What To Expect During A Medicinal Qigong Session
Medicinal Qigong treatment sessions last approximately one hour, and the fee is $125.00. The session can be broken down into three distinct phases: evaluation, treatment, and prescriptions for homework.
Evaluation:
The client will fill out an intake form and a consent form. During this time the practitioner makes observations to aid his or her diagnosis of the client to determine the client's symptoms and imbalances. The practitioner searches for areas which have excess, deficient, or stagnant energy. Based on this information the practitioner will formulate a treatment protocol.
Treatment:
As Qi can pass through air and clothing there is no need to disrobe. During the treatment the client may lie down or be seated. The practitioner often works about a foot away from the client's body, and sometimes lightly touches the client to guide and manipulate the movement of Qi. The client may feel varying sensations as the Qi moves, such as warmth, tingling, coolness, vibration and sometimes twitching as the stagnant energy releases. Generally, clients find the treatments extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. The primary goal of Medical Qigong therapy is to purge and release toxic emotions from within the body's tissues.
Prescriptions:
After the treatment, the clients will be given Qigong prescriptions to assist in their ongoing healing. These Medicinal Qigong exercises and meditations are tailored specifically to the clients. Typically, these are simple breathing and movement exercises or seated meditations, which should be performed as prescribed for optimum results.
